2006 National Award For Outstanding Achievement in Citizen Diplomacy

IRIS was among seven Iowa organizations honored by the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy at the Iowa State Historical Building, 600 East Locust, Des Moines, Iowa, on September 6, 2006  with the National Award for Outstanding Achievement in Citizen Diplomacy. The recognition was based on four IRIS programs namely Community Connections, Great Lakes Reconciliation Project on Justice and Journalism, Building Civil Society and Peace in Nigeria, and African Workforce Developing project on Building a Nigerian Model. Mr. Del Christensen the executive director accepted a plaque on behalf of IRIS.
The U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy is a national organization based in Iowa and dedicated to serving the many organizations active in citizen diplomacy through development of resources which will enable the establishment of best-practices in citizen diplomacy and the recruitment of persons to serve as U.S. citizen ambassadors to the world. Alumni Group wins the Disney Minnie Grant

One of the IRIS Alumni groups in Nigeria, Peace and Development Forum, Kaduna was selected by Youth Service America (YSA) as a Disney
Minnie Grant
winner. Their application was selected from among almost
500 proposals from all over the world. The Disney Minnie Grant, which is
administered by Youth Service America and funded by Disney, helps to
underwrite youth service projects for Global Youth Service Day, held
