What You Can Do >

Mentor an Intern

Your Organization Can Become a Mentor of an Intern

Would your organization be interested in mentoring an intern?  We have learned from past experiences that benefits flow both ways.  The international intern gets to see first hand how organizations are run in America. The intern normally is involved in a similar organization in his/her home country.  The experiences and ideas the intern gains from your organization will add to the effectiveness of his/her organization back home. Your organization may also be enriched by having an intern who may approach a problem from a different cultural viewpoint.  These interns have been competitively chosen and are very motivated and entrepreneurial.

The internships can last anywhere from one week to five weeks.  Your organization does not compensate the intern.  A person within the company acts as a mentor to the intern and works with IRIS to ensure that the experience is worthwhile for both parties.

IRIS is also looking for companies that would permit brief site visits by groups of interns.

Testimonials from Interns

“I was able to learn how a private transport company can earn money by providing supplementary services.  I use this knowledge in my work.”

“It was very interesting for me to learn new principles in administration, for example the fact that the American designers gets his salary per hour has helped me to revise the system of setting salaries in my company.”
